Shadows
Father, you call us not to focus on shadows. Either running from them in fear or pursuing them as shiny objects that we covet. The things of this world are shadows of the real thing, You. A shadow is a shape (things we see in this world) produced by a body (the thing itself) coming between rays of light (God as the source and controller of all things) and a surface (the world in front of us). You call us to pursue and be close to the light (You) and that will put the shadows in their proper perspective. You call us to be passionate about You and our relationship with You for You are passionate about us, demonstrated by the sacrifice of Your Only Son, Jesus, for our salvation. You are crazy in love with us and call us to be crazy in love with You. You want us to have “stuff” but caution us to make sure that “stuff” does not have us. Embracing the source (You) deemphasizes the importance of “stuff” and puts them secondary to who You are (in control) and who we are to You (your beloved that You are passionate about). Thank you for being my source and the source of light in my life for my journey here. Thank you for being my provider and help me keep proper perspective of the provision on where it came from (You), it’s purpose (to fulfill the plans You have for me) and it’s purpose (J.O.Y. | Jesus first, Others second, Yourself third).
