Pressure

The external pressures of this world (demands, desires, expectations) are crushing if there is no counter in the form of internal pressurization that is greater or equal to the external ones.  Like a deep-sea diver who needs a pressured suit to deal with the external pressures of the ocean, we need a pressured suit.

God's gift to us is His indwelled Spirit to provide us that internal pressurized "suit" to counter the external pressures of this world.  Not to make things easier but to ensure that the pressures of this world will not crush us.  Scriptures tells us this (John 4:4) and instructs us to have confidence in God and at the same time putting no confidence in our flesh.  Our flesh nature that has a co-dependency nature to and with the external pressures of this world and its ways (demands, desires, expectations).  A flesh nature that wants to be in a perpetual orbit around the center of the world's ways.

He who lives in us (God) is greater than he who lives in the world (the ways of the world which is a path of/from the devil).  We can live by His strength of being greater than the devil and we can depend on the living Spirit of God in us to overcome the external pressures (demands, desires, expectations)and not have it crush us (submit to the ways of this World).

Therefore, have confidence in He who lives in us (God) and don’t succumb to our feelings and attraction of he who lives in this world (the devil) who disguises himself in the demands, desires and expectation of this world.
