Electric Bicycle
Faith with and in God with the Holy Spirit is like riding an electric bicycle. The electric bike does not move by itself and requires you to get on it and start peddling. Thereafter, the electric assist kicks in amplifying every peddle stroke you take. The more you peddle, the greater the benefit you get from the electric assist moving you faster and farther through an effort that has been amplified. So it is with faith. It requires us to engage (get on the bike) and for us to practice (active) faith (peddle) to get the “electric” assist (God’s Spirit) for our ride (life). Like the electric bike, the more we peddle (the more we engage our faith in thoughts, words and actions) the more the “electric” assist provides amplification of our faith effort (“peddling”). It is a union of effort that starts with me and continues with amplification through God. It is a result in and through faith than is greater (farther) with more efficient effort (God assist) than what I could accomplish on my own in my own strength. It is an arrangement that gives me strength to go up hills (the challenges of life), to enjoy the downhills (the blessings of live) and to endure and persevere (living life). It does not sap my strength (peace) and strengthens my hope (the assurance of what is to come). I am equipped for my ride (life) with my trusty bike (faith) with its electric batter and power (God is with me and in it with me). Thank you Father for providing me Your electric bike to use.
